Policemen arrested for assaulting man with broomstick

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate in Durban has arrested six policemen from the Protection Security Services unit in the the Malvern Area.
Five of the policemen were arrested last night at Cavendish SAPS where they are based.
The sixth policeman handed himself over to the IPID on Friday morning.
They are charged with sexually assaulting a man with a broomstick.
The victim was also physically assaulted and sustained multiple injuries.
It is further alleged that the suspects, acting in concert with civilians, robbed people in their homes and planted drugs to force them to pay bribes to avoid being arrested.
Some of the victims were robbed of substantial sums of money.
All the suspects are appearing in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Friday.
