A 33-year-old police constable shot and wounded three people before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life at Cape Town International Airport on Wednesday night.
Captain Frederick van Wyk says the constable arrived at the airport around 6.30pm and went to the food-court to speak to his partner at one of the restaurants.
An argument ensued and he shot his partner and two other employees at the food outlet before shooting himself.
Captain van Wyk said an inquest docket and attempted murder dockets were opened.
An Airports company spokeswoman said airport operations had not been affected because the shooting happened in a smaller section of the airport.
