Police in KwaZulu Natal are searching for an 82-year-old pensioner who has been missing for over two months after going to collect her pension.
Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said on Monday that Gadekile Grace Zuke, 82, of Umgayi in the Sawoti area, had left her home at about 6:45am on 11 October to collect her pension.
Gwala said that the pensioner never arrived at the SASSA pension payout point in Moya Ward, Umgayi.
“Her daughter, an adult woman, left home about five minutes later to join her mom and was surprised that she could not find her mother anywhere along the way and upon arrival at the pension payout point, nobody had seen her.”
According to police, Zuke is of average build, with white hair, and was dressed in a white and navy traditional dress, a cream button-up jersey and navy takkies. She has a scar near her left eye from previous surgery.
“If anyone recognises the woman and knows of her whereabouts, please contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable Nonhle Myende of the Sawoti SAPS Detective Service on 039-971 9000 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” Gwala said. (ANA)
