The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), together with Crime Intelligence dismantled a clandestine drug manufacturing laboratory in Roodepoort on Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesperson Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu says the team responded on a tip-off regarding suspicious activity at a manufacturing plant.
He says a surveillance process was initiated and finally a search warrant was executed.
Captain Mulamu says a 46-year-old suspect was caught in the act manufacturing drugs in a fully functional clandestine methaqualone drug laboratory.
During the raid, police seized chemicals, Mandrax, and equipment used to manufacture drugs.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Friday.
