The SA Police Service has expressed concern about the use of fireworks, especially at this time of the year.
A police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabane says fireworks in South Africa are controlled in terms of the Explosives Act of 1956.
Various municipalities have by-laws restricting and guiding residents about the use or discharge of fireworks in certain areas to avoid serious injuries that are experienced during this period.
Mokgwabane says anyone who breaches of any of the regulations of the Act, will be prosecuted.
