Police commissioner, general Rhiya Piyega says allegations against her of defeating the ends of justice will not stick
Reacting to a report in the Star Newspaper on Friday, General Phiyega said that nothing would deter her and her leadership from rebuilding the SA Police Service.
The newspaper reported that Phiyega has allegedly tipped off a senior police officer of a crime intelligence investigation against him into allegations that he had accepted a bribe from a criminal.
However, Phiyega denied tipping off the officer, saying he had become aware of the investigation after the opposition Democratic Alliance asked a question about it in Parliament.
She also questioned the timing of the claims which came in the same week that she had put former acting crime intelligence boss Major-General Chris Ngcobo on special leave.
Ngcobo was this week placed on special leave after a vetting process allegedly found discrepancies in his qualifications.
