Free State police have announced the arrest of two people in connection with a triple murder in Bloemfontein in June last year.
Captain Loraine Earle said after months of “intensive investigation”, the breakthrough came on Friday with the arrest of a woman and her boyfriend by members of the Mangaung metro trio task team.
The arrest relates to the discovery of the bodies of Christo Theron (36), his wife, Janine (35), as well as Janine's mother, Betsie Kruger (66), in Kruger’s home on Van Heerden Street, Wilgehof, Bloemfontein on 29, June 2023.
Earle said the two suspects, aged 23 and 28, are expected to appear in court on Monday on charges of murder, while the woman also faces a charge of contravening the Immigration Act.
Free State police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Baile Motswenyane, welcomed the arrests, saying it not only brought relief to the affected families but has also reinforced the trust and confidence the community needs to have in our police.
