A 46-year-old man was seriously injured on Saturday when his microlight plane crashed into a hangar at airfield in Magaliesberg.
Netcare 911 said that their paramedics had responded to a report that the microlight had crashed at airfield in Orient Hills in the Magaliesberg area.
Spokesperson, Nick Dollman, said reports from the scene claimed that the “man was trying to land and crashed into a hanger”.
“Netcare 911 Advanced Life Support paramedics attended to a 46-year-old male who had sustained life threatening injuries. He was in a critical condition, medical drugs were administered, CPR was performed and he was placed on a ventilator,” Dollman said.
“Due to the severe nature of his injuries and the location of the incident, the Netcare 911 specialised helicopter ambulance was called to the scene” and after the man was stabilised, he was airlifted to hospital.
Dollman said the incident was reported to the Civil Aviation Authority.
He said the Magaliesburg SAPS and the West Rand Fire Department were also at the scene.
