Port Elizabeth police are investigating a break-in at the Linton Grange Post Office over the weekend.
Spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said the burglary was detected on Monday by staff.
She said it appeared that the Post Office was broken into sometime between Christmas Eve and the weekend and that the break-in was only discovered by post office personnel this morning.
Kabega Park Detectives are investigating a case of housebreaking.
She said a post office staff member had locked up the premises in Cape Road, Linton Grange, at 5 pm on Christmas Eve and when he re-opened for business at 7 am on Monday realised that there had been a break-in.
Janse Van Rensburg said it appeared that the suspects had gained access by forcing open a side gate and smashing a window.
She said they got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and parcels which were destined for post office customers.
