Port Elizabeth police have launched a departmental investigation together with a criminal case, following a shooting incident outside the Humewood police station.
Spokesperson, Col. Pricilla Naidu says police members heard the sound of a gunshot outside at around 8pm on Friday night.
She said immediately thereafter, a woman ran into the station, shouting that her boyfriend, an off-duty policeman, fired a shot outside.
Naidu said the members ran outside, but the detective constable had apparently driven off in a detective vehicle.
She says cases of discharge of a firearm in a built-up area and using a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent were opened.
