Parole board sitting today to decide on Oscar

The Department of Correctional Services says the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board is sitting on Friday to reconsider the case of Oscar Pistorius' placement under correctional supervision.

This follows the setting aside by the Parole Review Board, of the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board's decision on June 5 to place the Paralympian under correctional supervision from 21 August. The call for review was submitted by the Minister of Justice and Correctional Supervision Adv Michael Masutha, on the grounds that the decision was taken prematurely and contrary to the Correctional Services Act.

Department spokesperson, Manelisi Wolela

"We are expecting the autonomous CSPB of Kgosi Mampuru II, will make a decision whether or not to place Oscar Pistorius under correctional supervision. We will be updated later today and will then update the media and public in this regard"
