Panayiotou and co-accused case postponed to 11th of January

Christopher Panayiotou and his two fellow murder-accused Sizwezakhe Vumazonke and Sinethemba Nenembe made a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth magistrate's court on Wednesday morning.

Panayiotou is accused of masterminding the abduction and murder of his school teacher wife Jayde in April.

Family members of both Chris and Jayde were in court for the sitting which lasted just a few minutes.

The matter was postponed to the 11th of January for further investigation and the three accused will remain in custody.

Next Tuesday, High Court judge John Smith is expected to give his ruling on an application by Panayiotou's defence counsel that the State make the case docket available to them.

They argued in the high court yesterday that they need the docket so that they can work on what would be a third bail application for Panayiotou.

His two previous bids for bail were unsuccessful in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's court and then in the Grahamstown High Court.
