It has been two weeks since well-known Ndebele artist Dr Esther Mahlangu was robbed in her home in Siyabuswa near KwaMhlanga in the Mpumalanga Province. Police have still not arrested the suspect and have now offered a reward of R50 000 for information about him.

Former Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini has been given a R200 000 fine or four years in prison for perjury. Two of the four years have been suspended for five years.

A 28-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison in the Verulam Regional Court this week for repeatedly raping a four-year-old boy over nine years ago. Police in Polokwane, Limpopo, have arrested a 13-year-old boy after he was caught playing with his father's 9mm pistol. Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says community members spotted the boy playing with the gun outside with his friends and immediately called the police.

A former McDonald's employee has been sentenced to 10 years direct imprisonment for malicious damage to property for spitting into a McFlurry ice cream and extortion. The National Prosecuting Authority says Clement Seothaeng, recorded himself preparing and spitting inside the ice cream cup.
