Two former Nelson Mandela Bay employees – including an ex top official – were among five accused who were on Thursday arrested in connection with an alleged multi-million rand dubious PPE tender. They include former acting municipal manager Mvuleni Mapu, aged 60, and ex-deputy director of facilities, 42-year-old Nwabisa Mtshakaza.

A fifth suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of North West farmer Nikolaas Steenkamp.

The National Prosecuting Authority says 65-year-old Warrant Officer Daniel Reynecke, was sentenced this week in the Regional Court to 15 years direct imprisonment for the theft of firearms.
