Sixteen suspects accused of swindling Covid-19 TERS funds have been arrested. A spokesperson for the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) Trevor Hatting says the suspects stole an amount of R2.2 million and were arrested in Gauteng and the North West Province on Sunday.

A police Constable from Welkom in the Free State who drove to a local petrol station to fill up his police vehicle on Thursday was shot and wounded by robbers. Police spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng says five armed robbers arrived at the petrol station at about 7 am in a white Polo with a Free State number plate.
