The Department of Correctional Services has confirmed the death of one inmate in a fire which broke out at the Kutama Sinthumule Correctional Facility in Makhado in Limpopo.

Two Gauteng learners have taken their own lives on Monday at two separate schools in the Province. MEC Matome Chiloane says they are deeply saddened by the latest incidents which serves as a grim reminder that the emotional well-being of learners is a shared responsibility.

A newborn baby is recovering at a hospital in Mpumalanga after she was found alive inside a plastic bag on Sunday. Police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala says the infant was found at a local sports field in the Mbuzini village.
