With more than a million motor vehicle licences set to expire in September, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) is encouraging motor vehicle owners to take proactive steps to renew their licenses and avoid penalties.
Numerous extensions were granted during Covid-19, but this resulted in hundreds of thousands of discs expiring over the next four months.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) says a total of 1 049 412 motor vehicle licences are expiring in September and would have to be renewed by the end of the month.
The Corporation says although a 21-day grace period is given, arrears and penalties will be charged for late renewal.
Email and SMS reminders
Several motorists would have received either an email or SMS as a reminder to renew their discs with an option to do this online.
The RTMC is assisting in this matter to help motorists avoid queues and make the necessary payments in the convenience of their homes.
The disc will take three to five days to deliver.
Owners can renew on the same portal and have their motor vehicle licences delivered within three to five days.
Those who have registered already can log in and finalise the renewal in less than 10 minutes.
