Murder-accused Oscar Pistorius’s lawyers have been told that the athlete may face two more charges.
According to eNCA, the National Prosecuting Authority intends to charge Pistorius with two counts of recklessly discharging a weapon.
Pistorius is facing a murder charge after shooting and killing his PE model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day this year.
The extra charges relate to two incidents in which the athlete fired a weapon in public.
The first incident happened in a restaurant when Pistorius accidentally fired a shot under the table while inspecting a friend’s firearm.
The second incident relates to Pistorius firing a shot in the air through the sunroof of a car.
Pistorius will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, on what would have been Steenkamp's 30th birthday, when he is expected to be served with the indictment.
The trial date for the high-profile case has been set for February 24 to March 14 next year.
