Opposition parties to approach High Court to remove Speaker

Three opposition parties will approach a full bench of the Western Cape High Court on Monday seeking an order to remove Baleka Mbete as National Assembly speaker.

The three are AgangSA, Congress of the People and the United Democratic Movement.

Agang leader, Adries Tlouamma said they would also like other parties to join their case.

The leaders of the three parties said in a statement that they're convinced that only judicial intervention can extricate Parliament from the constitutional crisis that has been caused by the ineptitude and bias of the Speaker.

They said ridding parliament of Mbete and the country of the President are matters which require co-operation between all opposition parties and even like-minded members of the ANC.
