Western Cape police have confirmed that a 28-year-old man has died during protests in the town of Wolseley.
Police spokesperson, colonel Andre' Traut, did not provide specific details but said the man died as a result of an incident in the town.
He says five other people were injured in the same incident.
Traut says the matter is now the subject of an investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.
Meanwhile, Traut says a number of rural areas in the Western Cape are affected by the unrest, and police remain hopeful that wage negotiations can be resolved soon, so that order can be restored.
He says police will continue with efforts to police the situation.
