An off-duty policeman has died after his vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a bus transporting ANC supporters from Kimberley.
The accident happened late on Saturday night about 12 kilometres from Upington.
According to a statement the policeman was trapped inside his vehicle which caught alight.
The passengers on the bus were able to exit before it also caught fire and seven people were treated for minor injuries.
The ANC has expressed its condolences to the policeman’s family.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened.
