The National Union of Mineworkers has confirmed that its members will go on strike next week.
This, after wage negotiations with the Chamber of Mines deadlocked this week.
NUM spokesperson, Lesiba Seshoka says union leaders met with members on Thursday about the possibility of a strike, after the union rejected the Chamber's final wage increase offer of between 6 and 6.5 percent.
Seshoka says the NUM will hand a strike notice to employers on Friday and will probably strike on Monday.
Three other unions, Amcu Uasa and Solidarity have not yet made a decision on the latest wage offer.
