The National Sea Rescue Institute has issued a shark warning for Plettenberg Bay.
NSRI national spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, they are urging bathers in the Plettenberg Bay area to exercise caution due to an increase in shark activity that he says is visible close to shore.
"Its believed to be attributed to a sardine run in the Plettenberg Bay area at present," Lambinon said.
He added that the whale carcass which washed ashore at Buffels Bay near Knysna last week has now been completely removed.
However, Lambinon says "they are continuing to urge people along the Southern Cape to continue to exercise caution."
