NPA wont revisit Selebi case

The National Prosecuting Authority says there's no way it could revisit the Jackie Selebi case.

This, after former president Thabo Mbeki suggested it at the former national police commissioner's funeral in Pretoria at the weekend.

NPA spokesperson, Belekhaya Mgobhozi says there's no procedure in the NPA act to reconsider the case.

He says the matter has been dealt with by the High Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal, and the file has been closed.

"There is no procedure in the NPA act that the matter, when it is finalised in this fashion after the High Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal has confirmed the sentence and the conviction. There is no procedure, internally out of the NPA act that could be done that the NPA can revisit the process, the matter is concluded" he said
