NPA 'imposter' in court for allegedly trying to bribe Oscar

A 33 year-old man is due to appear in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes court on Monday on a charge of corruption after he was arrested by the Hawks on Friday for allegedly offering to quash Oscar Pistorius' case.

The man was arrested in Pretoria during a sting operation in which a deposit of R40 000 rand was paid.

Hawks spokesperson, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, says the man approached Pistorius last Thursday pretending to be an official from the National Prosecuting Authority.

He says the Hawks were informed and a sting operation put in place.

Mulaudzi says the man was arrested next to the Pretoria High Court.

"He in fact was demanding about R250 000 to have Mr Pistorius' case quashed. We were informed about this scam and planned a "take down" operation where we arrested the suspect in Pretoria, after he was give R40 000 as a deposit" he said
