The National Prosecuting Authority in Mpumalanga has declined to prosecute Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana regarding a case of sexual assault opened against him in August.
The minister has been in hot water after an employee at a luxury hotel in the Kruger National Park lodged a complaint of sexual assault against him.
The incident allegedly occurred while he was receiving a massage in his room.
Godongwana denied the claims, saying he was with his wife at the time.
NPA spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa says the decision follows a thorough assessment of all available evidence and after consultations with the complainant, who expressly did not wish to proceed with the case, despite being offered all the necessary support available to complainants in cases of this nature
She says the NPA remains steadfast in vigorously prosecuting sexual offense cases and gender-based violence.
