Cape Town tourism says more business travellers are needed to increase the economic viability of flights between the city and London.
CEO Mariëtte Du Toit-Helmbold was reacting to an SA Airways announcement that it would be scrapping its 20-year direct route between Cape Town and London from the 15th of August.
Instead, passengers will have to catch a flight from Johannesburg.
She said decreased business travel, as a result of troubled economies, continued to plague key source markets and that more energy would be directed to making Cape Town a competitive, year-round business tourism destination.
