ANC secretary-general, Gwede Mantashe, is predicting that the party's elective conference in Manguang this month will go off smoothly.
He was speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday following the ANC's national executive committee meeting.
Mantashe's comment also comes in the wake of controversies and physical confrontations that characterised some of the nomination conferences in several provinces.
"You can't think that because I'm unhappy about the people that emerges that there is chaos. There is no chaos. I'm unhappy because my preference has not prevailed," he said.
Mantashe said that is "understandable in democratic contestation."
He denied that Manguang will be chaotic.
