High Court judge Frans Kgomo has turned down the bail application of a 17-year-old who he convicted on Thursday of the Griekwastad triple farm murders.
Legal counsel for the youth argued that he wanted to complete his matric and hoped one day to attend University.
His legal guardian also made an impassioned plea to the court to grant bail.
However, in opposing the youth's bail application, state prosecutor Hannes Cloete said the had been convicted of serious crimes.
On Thursday, Judge Kgomo found by the boy guilty of the murders of Deon Steenkamp, his wife Christel and the rape and murder of their daughter Marthella in 2012.
Kgomo also ordered that youth to be held at the Kimberley prison and not at a Place of Safety meant meant for minors.
Sentencing proceedings get underway on the 13th of May.
