Nine killed in 7 car pile-up in the Karoo

Nine people have been killed in a 7-car pile up on the N-1 near Beaufort-West in the central Karoo.

According to the public broadcaster, the road was closed for a few hours to traffic in both directions on Sunday.

Western Cape traffic chief, Kenny Africa says 8 people were injured, one of them seriously.

The cause of the accident is not known.
