The state has drawn up a new charge sheet against the man accused of setting fire to Parliament, causing extensive damage to the building and the National Assembly.
Zandile Mafe (49) is currently in Pollsmoor Prison after the Western Cape High Court overturned an order that he undergo 30-day mental observation at Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital.
His bail application set down for Saturday has also been postponed as he had contracted Covid19.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson in the Western Cape, Eric Ntabazalila, says the postponement until Mafe's isolation ends on the 24th was taken by officials following a virtual meeting.
He also highlighted that the revised charge sheet was presented to Mafe's legal team on Wednesday.
In the new charge sheet, Mafe is facing a charge of housebreaking with the intent to commit acts of terrorism, arson and theft.
The charges needed to be re-formulated and were done so by the lead Prosecutor who consulted with the Investigating Officer.
Previously, Mafe was charged with two counts of arson, theft, housebreaking with the intent to steal, contravention of the explosives act as well as the destruction of essential infrastructure.
