The Office of the National Director of Public Prosecutions says it is committed to restoring the independence and credibility of the National Prosecuting Authority.
Spokesperson, Sipho Ngwema says this includes investigating allegations of improper conduct on the part of NPA staff.
He says they are engaging closely with the State Capture Commission (SCC), which is investigating the NPA as an institution and individuals, and this collaboration will ensure a holistic and evidence-based response.
Recent amendments to the SCC regulations provides access to relevant information and will inform the action that will be taken.
Ngwema says Presidential appointees, who are accused of improper conduct that brings into question their fitness to hold office, should be recalled and will require the intervention of the President.
He says the Investigating Directorate (ID) of the NPA has several criminal dockets relating to these matters.
