The National Consumer Commission is expected to make a ruling against Auction Alliance on Friday.
If the commission returns a guilty verdict in the complaint brought by billionaire Wendy Appelbaum, it could reportedly set Auction Alliance back at least R30m.
If the company is found guilty of transgressing the Consumer Protection Act, it could also receive a fine equivalent to 10% of the firm's annual turnover.
The complaint by Appelbaum is one of a series of events that eventually led to a probe against Auction Alliance boss Rael Levitt.
