National Assembly Speaker considers DA request over Nkandla

 National Assembly Speaker, Max Sisulu, is considering a request by the Democratic Alliance for the appointment of an ad hoc committee in relation to the findings of the Public Protector on the security upgrades to President Jacob Zuma's residence at Nkandla.

Parliament said in a statement on Tuesday that the Public Protector, Advocate Thuli Madonsela, had not yet submitted her report to Parliament, but would reportedly be submitting it to the President for perusal and comment in accordance with provisions of the Executive Members' Ethics Act of 1998.

Sisulu says in terms of the Act, Zuma has 14 days to submit a copy of the Public Protector's report to the National Assembly together with his comments and a report on any remedial steps taken or intended to be taken.

He said parliament is awaiting the outcome of this process.
