PARLIAMENT, September 5 (ANA) – The list of 12 candidates who will make up the non-executive directors of the new South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is expected to be recommended on Tuesday.
Parliament’s portfolio committee on communications will hold deliberations before it tables the 12 names in the National Assembly for adoption.
The committee interviewed 35 candidates for the position, including the current interim board which was put together following a parliament’s inquiry into the broadcaster.
The inquiry revealed massive looting, non-adherence to laws, intimidation of journalists, and political interference, among others.
The five-member interim board’s six-month term comes to an end later in September.
