A clandestine operation involving SAPS, SANParks, and the Cape Town Stock Theft Endangered Species Unit pounced on a traditional medicine shop where items from illegal suppliers were bought for muthi purposes.
Police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk says the shop owner was arrested earlier this week following a four-month-long sting operation.
He says inside the shop officers found 29 bags of tree bark, one elephant foot, several fox skins and one otter skin.
Various illegal fauna and flora products were also confiscated.
The shop owner was arrested and will be charged with possession of wild carcasses and flora without a permit.
Captain van Wyk says similar operations will be conducted and more arrests are expected.
He says the value of the confiscated goods must still be determined.
