CAPE TOWN, March 28 (ANA) – The Muslim Judicial Council (MJC SA) has condemned the “cowardly suicide bombing” that claimed the lives of at least seventy people in Lahore, Pakistan on Sunday.
In a statement released on Monday, MJC president Maulana Ihsaan Hendricks said: “We pray that God Almighty will place patience into the hearts of those who lost their loved ones and that the people of Pakistan will stand united against the evil, divisive and sectarian based ideology influenced by the unislamic state of IS (ISIS) which has caused mayhem and death across Muslim lands.”
He said the ideology behind the attack was “foreign to Islam as it advocates the destruction of interfaith relationships”.
The attack took place at a crowded public park where families were celebrating Easter in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore.
At least three hundred people were also injured when the suicide bomber struck.
A Pakistan Taliban faction has claimed responsibility for the attack.
