Motshekga to meet with stakeholders before releasing report on selling of posts


Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga, on Thursday released a timetable for the release of a report on a probe into allegations that teachings posts had been sold.

Motshekga appointed a task team to investigate reports that principal and teacher posts had been sold in several provinces, including the Eastern Cape, Kwazulu Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

Teacher union Sadtu had been identified as the main culprit in the scandal.

Motshekga has previously been quoted as saying that she's aware of the stronghold of unions in some provinces.

Department spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga, said Minister Motshekga, is committed to the time frames for the consultation process and subsequent release of the report on the 15th of April.

"She will be taking the report to cabinet and after that she will then be meeting with teacher unions,SGB associations to go through the report with them. Also just to Alert them to the findings as well as the recommendations but once that is done she then report it to the public on the 15th of April" he said.
