Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga says she's disappointed that teachers union Sadtu has called for her resignation through the media.
In a brief statement on the Department's website, Motshekga says the union should have used regular channels of communication.
She says her Department is always committed and available to meet and discuss any concerns raised by unions.
Sadtu warned of a national strike on Tuesday if Motshekga did not resign.
The union cited her alleged trampling of collective bargaining agreements as the main reasons for its decision and its implementation of an effective go-slow in schools country-wide.
