Three people have been arrested in Klerksdorp for allegedly killing an 84-year-old woman on a farm in Fochville.
A farmworker raised the alarm when the victim failed to open her door on Monday.
Gauteng Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo says the worker reported for duty and knocked on the door looking for the victim.
He says when nobody responded the worker walked around the house and saw that the bedroom window was forced open.
A 64-year-old woman, her 29-year-old son and his 23 -year-old friend who lived in a flat on the farm were arrested after the victim's body was found covered with clothing under her dining room table.
Masondo says the three suspects were found in possession of the victim's personal belongings including her cellphone and wallet.
They are expected to appear in the Fochville Magistrates Court soon where they will be charged with murder and house robbery.
