Mossel Bay mom and toddler killed in fire

A three-year-old child and her mother have died in a fire that swept through their home at Kwa Nonqaba in Mossel Bay.

According to the KwaNonqaba police, the fire broke out in the home in Cherokee Street in Highway Park in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police said bystanders rushed to help the mother and child but the fire was burning too fiercely.

Police identified the toddler as Jaylene Muller and the mother Annelie.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
