Mossel Bay man's parole withdrawn amid new rape charges

A Mossel Bay man’s parole has been withdrawn after he appeared in the town’s magistrate’s court on Wednesday on a charge of raping a two-year-old girl.

The 26-year-old was out on parole after being sentenced to seven years for raping a six-year-old girl in 2009 when he was arrested at his home in KwaNonqaba a week ago.

He will now serve out the rest of his 10 year sentence on the charge of raping a six-year-old girl.

According to police his parole period would have ended in 2019.

In the latest incident police said their preliminary investigation suggested that the two-year-old girl was playing outside her grandmother's house in 7th Avenue when the suspect allegedly lured her into a house where the rape occurred.

The State told the court on Wednesday that the suspect was also found guilty of raping a six-year-old girl when he was 14 years old.

For this he was sent on a rehabilitation program.

The case against the suspect was postponed to 21 August for pleading and trial.
