More people being arrested for corruption

Justice Minister, Jeff Radebe, says the initiatives in the fight against corruption have seen more people arrested for fraudulent and illicit activities.

He said on Sunday that a total of 522 incidents or allegations of serious corruption were recorded by the end June 2013.

Speaking at a briefing of the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster, he said a total of 791 people are currently under criminal, financial or forensic investigation.

Minister Radebe says NPA statistics show that for the year to end September, 228 people had been successfully convicted for corruption related crimes.
