Mom accused of murder says child was difficult

A mother accused of killing her child whom she said was difficult and troubling is expected to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo says Umhlali police responded to the crime scene in Ballito where they found the 45-year-old woman and the body of her four-year-old daughter.

He says the mother confessed to killing her child by drowning her in a full bucket of water until she stopped moving.

Ngcobo says the victim's hands were also tied with tape.

She was certified dead on the scene.
