Modimolle Monster said he tried to help Ina

The trial of the man dubbed the Modimolle Monster continues in the Pretoria High Court on Thursday.

Johan Kotze (50) is accused of orchestrating the murder of his teenage step son and the gang rape and torture of his estranged wife, Ina Bonette.

He is on trial with co-accused Andries Sithole, Pieta Mohlane and Frans Mphaka.

They have all pleaded not guilty to murdering 19-year-old son Conrad Bonnette and of kidnapping, repeatedly raping, assaulting and attempting to murder his former wife.

In his evidence on Wednesday, Kotze claimed to have tried to help Ina by begging his three co-accused not to harm her.

In her earlier evidence which was held in camera, Bonnette testified that Kotze had used a pair of pliers to twist one of her nipples.

She also said he had forced the other three to rape and mutilate her using nails, a screwdriver and an angle-grinder.

Bonnette also testified that she had heard her son pleading for his life before three shots were fired.

During cross examination on Wednesday Bonnette admitted to being with another man, but said she had been estranged from Kotze at the time and that they had been living apart.

The trial enters it's third day on Thursday.
