A 23-year-old man has been taken in for questioning after police found him transporting a white powder they believe is cocaine.
Police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli says the driver of a KIA bakkie, pulling a trailer was involved in a minor accident on the N4 road near Mbombela on Thursday.
He says when police responded to the scene they noticed the trailer had somehow broken from the truck spilling eight crates of white powder.
Colonel Mdhluli says they immediately called their K9 counterparts and confiscated 11 kg of what they believe is cocaine.
He says the substance will undergo testing to confirm their suspicions and if so the haul will be worth over R4.5 million.
Although police do not want to speculate until the test results are conclusive they believe the cargo was on its way to Gauteng.
