A man will appear in court in North West today for the murder of a mine employee more than a year ago.

The office of the North West premier commended the police for the arrest of the 29-year-old suspect for the rape and murder of a female employee at Anglo American Platinum's Rustenburg operations two years ago.

The body of Pinky Mosiane was discovered two years ago at the mine's Khomanani shaft 1.

She was raped and murdered while at work in February 2012.
