Two men are in police custody after they stole a truckload of soya beans from a silo in Petrus Steyn in the Free State on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring says the suspects, who hail from Delmas in Mpumalanga, arrived at the silos in a hired truck to load soya beans.
He says employees were left stunned when the suspects simply drove off with their looted soya beans, without going to the weighing bridge.
WO Mophiring says the truck was stopped by police about 7 km outisde Petrus Steyn on the R57 towards Reitz.
He says the value of the stolen beans is estimated to be R450 000.
The men will appear in court later this week.
