The Hawks in North West have arrested four suspects who tried to sell lion paws in Rustenburg.
Spokesperson Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso says the men, aged between 41 and 51 were arrested during a sting operation on Monday.
He says their serious organised crime unit and members of crime intelligence conducted an undercover operation where an agent expressed interest in purchasing the paws.
The suspects asked for R300 000.
The men were taken into custody and will appear in the Rustenburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday where they will face charges of contravening the National Environment Management Biodiversity Act.
