Correctional services commissioner Zac Modise - who testified at the OscarPistorius trial - is currently taking a large contingent of local and international media on a 3-hour long tour of the Kgosi Mampuru prison in Pretoria.
They were shown the tiny cell in the hospital wing where the blade runner spent 10 months behind bars after being convicted of culpable homicide in the shooting death of Reeva Steenkamp.
ENCA reports that the media was also shown convicted Czech crime boss Radovan Krecijir's cell - right next to Oscar's.
Acting Gauteng commissioner Mandla Mkabela says the tour of the prison is to help the media report from an informed perspective.
It is the first rime that correctional services has allowed such a detailed tour of Kgosi Mampuru prison, and intriguingly, comes the day after news was received that Judge Eric Leach had written the Oscar Pistorius appeal ruling.
It is expected that he will read out the court's decision by the end of this week.
The State argued last month in front of a full bench of appeals court judges that Pistorius be convicted of murdering Steenkamp and be sent back to prison.
